Imbophorus leucophasma (Turner, 1911)

Synonymy

  • Alucita leucophasma Turner, 1911

Morphology

Arenberger's redescription (as Imbophorus leucophasmus) reads[1]:

Diagnose: Exp. 15-18 mm.

Diagnosis: Wingspan 15-18 mm. The base color of forewing is pure white. A broad, brown stripe extends along the costa far beyond the cleft. In some individuals this can be reduced entirely. From its distal end a cross-stripe runs to the base of the cleft. The anterior lobe has numerous brown spots. Dark spots are located before the tip on the inner margin of the lobe and right at the tip; likewise on the posterior lobe. The fringes are as a rule white. Only the tip of the anterior lobe is surrounded by a brown fringe. On the inner margin two brown wisps cross the white fringe.

The anterior lobe of the hind wing is brown, the other two white. A small dark spot is located at the tip of each lobe. The fringe along the leading edge of the first lobe is brown and all the remaining fringe is white. Only on the inner margin of the second lobe and on the front margin of the third are there dark wisps.

The crown and the forehead are white, but mixed with numerous brown scales. The third palpal segment is 2/3, slightly inclined forward. The first and second pairs of legs are white, spotted with brown. The hind legs are white, only the ends of the mid-tibiae are brown. The two outer spurs are of equal length, while the inner spur of the first pair is longer than the outer spur. Abdomen white.
