Bryophyte Flora of Mangroves

South-east Queensland: Hepatics (liverworts) outnumber the Musci (mosses) both in terms of species and individual plants. Virtually all specimens were epiphytic because of the nature of the mangrove environment. Species prevalence varied somewhat from that of adjacent non-mangrove environments. The similarities to tropical mangrove forests of Thailand suggest that this may be a general feature of mangroves, but further studies are required. [1]
